ON SKILLS AND SPECIAL ATTACKS
------------------------------------------------
The system can easily be implemented by the way. For instance. The GM could do something like this (and if I am GM this may be just what I do). I'm going to show how with this system, pretty much all special attacks can be improvised in. Lets take a few examples from precisely what yall asked. (I'm gonna do one or two from each person)
Xel:
Drain: Xeld does a roll, multiplied by the level of his Drain. Thats how much MP he gets from the opponent. Maybe at a certain level (10 or so) it'll also be multiplied by his level and then by 2.
Ragna Blast: since it is in both hands, and since it is special, he rolls as if it was a normal attack (except no weapon bonuses, as it is energy, not using his actual weapon), except instead of using his STR, he using MO (since its energy, has nothing to do with strength) and then multiply by 2 since it is a special, and then multiply by 2 since it is two balls of energy. To make it more simple it is just MO times 4.
Cav:
Multi-Slice- Cav gets infinite attacks constantly (normal damage) but for each attack he must roll a die, if the die lands on 3 or lower, he doesnt attack. Now after he levels it up more, he gets a chance to do 2 or lower, and if it gets real high, if he rolls a 2 or lower, but then if he rolls a 6 he deals double damage, and stuff like that.
Shockwave- Double damage attack, use STR instead of MO to tell if you get paralyzed or not. (tricky tricky, no?) :-)
Shini-
Evasion- rolls a die every attack. If he rolls a 6, no damage is dealt. This only works for physical attacks. Not magic. If it levels up more, then if he rolls a 5 or a 6. etc, etc, etc.
Rapid Slash could kind of be like Cav's multi-slash.
Counter Blow- if executed immediately after being phsically damaged by an enemy, if you roll a 5 or a 6, you get your normal attack against the enemy of your choice, plus a normal attack against the enemy that hit you. Chances heighten and you can do other things besides a normal attack as you level this skill up.
Melfice-
This one is sorta important
Tenseiken Slash- CANCELLING. This can be implemented... right after the turn of a party, right before the enemy uses something, Melfice can use his cancelling move. If he rolls a 5 or a 6, the party gets to go again because that enemy was cancelled. Of course if there is more than one enemy, it is the enemies' turn, but the cancelled enemy doesnt go. Also damage for a normal attack is implemented.
So there you have it folks. Nothing here is set in stone... just sort of as an example of how the system works. :-) I am fully willing to change anything for yall. :-)

I have a suggestion/question about normal attacks. When a normal character does a normal attack, s/he attacks twice, while critical attack does a stronger attack once, canceling like in G2? If so, wouldnt it be fair to limit normal attacks combo to 4, since my char or Cav's may do infinite combo at high level.

I was thinking that normal attacks you just attack once.. sort of like in most other games besides G2. (or you may attack more than once, but it deals on set damage)
then on a special combo attack, which USES SP, because it is a special move, you can refer to the above post. either this will answer your question or I'm misunderstanding something you've said shini. :-)
